Responsibilities: Best possible judging of cars in show.
Pre-Show Duties:
1. Review judging procedure. Confer with Show Chairperson for any possible changes.
2. Personally contact every perspective judge prior to the Show, to be sure they will be able
to judge on Show date. Follow up on this. Use list of judges from prior year as a possible source of judges.
3. Procure pencils and clipboards for judges (One per team).
4. Procure card table and chairs.
5. Prepare instructions to give to prospective judges on the day of the Show.
6. Have a Day of Show judging meeting
Day of Show Duties:
1. Arrive at the Show by 8:00AM and set up table and sign.
2. At 11:30AM announce over loud speaker for judges to report to Chief Judge’s table at Noon.
3. When all are assembled, hand out proper judging sheets for each class to judging teams and explain scoring system. Send judging teams out onto field with instructions to be back as soon as possible.
4. Remain at judge’s table to arbitrate disputes and collect completed score sheets from judges.
5. About 2:30PM investigate why some teams are tardy (if any) and expedite until all are in.
6. Arrange scoring sheets in descending order, add any left untallied and resolve ties if judges have not done this. (A scoring team will tally the sheets and ask the judges to resolve ties.)
7. Record winners for each class (1st, 2nd, and 3rd) as well as Best of Show, etc. and give to announcer by 3:30PM.
8. Be sure to thank each judge in a friendly manner.
9. Make a list of winners and give to Webmaster.
10. Remain flexible during the course of the day. Most complaints, etc. are based on misunderstandings and can be explained away or allowed for. The whole experience should be fun for everyone! A level-headed chief judge will ensure things run smoothly.
11. Provide copies of winners list to press, if requested. Be mindful of Club’s Public Image.
12. Judging sheets are to be kept confidential.
13. All judging sheets are to be retained by the Chief Judge until they are no longer needed.
